Black And White Graphic Prints
When you think of black and white art prints; bold graphics comes to mind perhaps before anything else. During the 1950’s the American Abstract Expressionist who used black and white to the max to emphasis power was a guy called Franz Kline. He along with another different expressionist Robert Rauschenberg worked with shape that avoided clean lines quite the opposite to the beautiful sweeping perfection of calligraphy. When you see their work, it’s a bit like being hit in the face with a frying pan and you are staring at it wondering what is it that you are actually looking at?
So here is a little taster for you. How do you respond with these three different black and white art prints set in exactly the same setting?
What we have are two different types of abstract art where one has depth and the other doesn’t. One has organization, clarity and cleanness and the other doesn’t. Neither depict any image that you can identify with, but which one do you like and why? Then there is another black and white art print that gives you it’s meaning. You don’t need to think about it too much, but can appreciate the satire.
With all three art prints, they are all very large, they are mostly black and white, and one black and white art print does not have a frame, yet looks good.
It begs the question, as to what would these art prints be like if they were A4 size, how would your mind react? It’s nothing new, large sizes in art generally gives you a stronger feeling. It is all encompassing, all consuming, the work is shouting out for you to see it and it dominates the room. When you have large windows, and a rather large couch, a small sized picture is likely to be ignored by most visitors. But when you have a wacking big art print, woah, now that’s attitude you are expressing.
